Lumix 100-300mm Lens Review

In this video I do a quick review the Lumix 100-300 F4-5.6 II lens. This is my first really long telephoto lens. And it's also my first foray into bird photography.

I had to learn a whole new way of shooting with this lens. But I'm super happy with my results. The photo above was taken my first time using this lens.

At first I thought this lens was heavy and large. But compared to the Leica 100-400mm, it's not bad a all.

Is the Lumix 100-300mm lens sharp enough?

In general, this is a very sharp lens for the price.

And, if you can keep your ISO fairly low, and don't underexpose your photos, the images will appear sharper.

If you have issues with noise or sharpness, you can consider using apps like Denoise Ai, or  Sharpen Ai from Topaz Labs.

I've done some tests using these apps, and they work really well. The great thing is that they work with jpg files. I don't usually shoot raw files when I'm birding, as I feel the jpgs I get from my Lumix G9 are good enough.

I also tested out the Leica 100-400mm lens with my Lumix G9 for birding. That lens is double the weight and triple the price. You can see my first impressions in this video and blog post. Image quality is impressive. If you have the funds, definitely check it out too.
